READY! for Kindergarten™

As a project with Idaho AEYC, Kuna Early Learning offers READY! for Kindergarten™ high-quality parent workshops for free to families of children ages 0-5. Parents receive activities and materials incorporating play into everyday learning which will help children be ready for school. Kuna Early Learning began READY! for Kindergarten™ workshops in Kuna in 2020. Evolving upon the success and participation of this program, in 2022 all elementary schools in the Kuna School District provide workshops for families. For more information please contact program coordinator Christy Hall at readykuna@gmail.com.

Get Ready to Read!

Get Ready to Read!, a literacy project to help teachers measure student growth in pre-reading skills and use this information to guide classroom reading activities was started in 2017 in Kuna. Retired teachers and community members are trained to give a literacy assessment to preschoolers three times a year in participating Kuna preschools. Teachers are provided activities and lessons in the areas of early literacy skills including print knowledge, linguistic awareness, and emergent writing. For more information please contact Ludee Vermaas at lvermaas@kunaschools.org.
